The Great Teams: A History of Wisconsin High School Football

Over 50 years of research and decades of maintaining the Wisconsin high school state football record book have led to this book. By profiling state champions and other impressive teams, going back to Madison's 1897 "national champions", this book tells the story of how the game developed and Wisconsin's incredible impact while recording the accomplishments, innovations and influence of the many players and coaches over the last 130 years.
Primarily told through individual team profiles. The Great Teams expands on the impact of players and coaches like William Juneau (grandnephew of Solomon Juneau), Gus Dorais (quarterback for Knute Rockne at Notre Dame who helped modernize the forward pass), Arlie Mucks (first American public high schooler in the Olympics), Win Brockmeyer, Tom Hearden, Alan Ameche, Gerry Uchytil and onto the current giants of Wisconsin high school football.
