Prelude: Friday night, September 30, 1966, was the start of the of the longest game in state history. I’ve found teams that played each other twice in the regular season back in the early days of Wisconsin High School football. The state record book shows that Wauzeka vs. LaFarge on October 9, 1981, and Waukesha South vs. West Bend East on September 5, 2008, all played six overtime periods with each game lasting nearly four hours.
